Happy Retirement, Tessie!

December 29th marked the end of the "Tessie era" at the Chamber Office. For nearly ten years, Tessie Steffens greeted visitors, answered questions, and planned events for us. Always the artist and gardener, she effortlessly filled the roles of chief decorator, donation-basket-maker, and plant-tender as well. Tessie LOVED Music at the Market and grew that event series into a favorite among locals and visitors.

Tessie began work for the Chamber in 2008 as a Tourism Clerk at the Visitor Center and moved "up the hill to the big office" in 2012 to fill the Projects Assistant position, bringing spunk and some of the best "motivational" signs with her. Through the years, she brought us many smiles and laugh-til-you-cry moments with her stories and Tessie-isms.

We wish her the very best in retirement and look forward to her visits to the office - perhaps in her pajamas, wearing her new hat from her friends at the Washington PD!
